I thought this was kind of interesting. Japanese must really have a big maid fetish to have an entire anime/manga genera AND successful chain of restaurants centered around them. Apparently the appeal of these restaurants is to make you feel like you're in one of those maid shows, and the customers and workers are usually geeks and otakus.

At Royal Milk, diners can follow up a meal with a range of grooming services, including ear cleanings.

Maids at some of the more attentive shops even offer to spoon-feed customers at their table.

I thought that sort of thing was exaggerated for anime, but apparently not. I wouldn't really want to eat at a cafe while watching people get their ears cleaned out, though.  Confused

They also have the Anna Miller's, where waitresses have some pretty costumres you often see in animes.

I guess that would be a matter of opinion.  I happen to be a regular at the local Hooters.  Not quite to the level of "otaku" (although there are a few that do fit into that classification).   It's all a mater of personal taste.  And if they wear some of the more revealing outfits I've seen in anime (although some might not be street legal), I can understand the attraction.

Hooters is an American based restaurant (although it is finding it's way into other parts of the world) known for the uniform that the waitresses wear (white low neckline tank top and orange jogging shorts).  They are laso known for serving Buffalo Style Cicken Wings and beer.  See download for a sample picture of the uniform.

On the other hand, the word hooters is also an American euphemism for women's breasts, usually indicating that they are somewhat large.

Maid themed never seemed to catch on in the US.  Too bad

If it were in America, the employees would probably be Mexican immigrant workers.

/Sorry, that wasn't exactly politically correct XD

Also, "Fuk Mi" isn't an actual restaurant; that is a digitally altered photo of a place... I believe called "Fu Kim."

A Japanese maid-themed restaurant seems kind of interesting, but going to one would most likely immediately label you an otaku.

the phonetics don't fit for Japanese
True. It will be write like this in hiragana : fu kimu

MinoTaure 's Lesson for today : There is only one syllabe with the letter F,  "Fu" : ha hi fu he ho. Example Fu Ra n Su = France  (prend des notes Axel Wink )

But but but, Sushi is a japanese food. So the owner is korean, but the food is from japan  Pense Serious business here !
