I have to tell you all about this anime, since it's on my top ten list lately



REC, which my avatar is from, is the uncommon story of an ordinary guy working for an advertissment company and young seiyuu (japanese dubber) girl in training.

She still has a long way to go, and the jobs offered to her aren't always gratifying. You can't become a great seiyuu in one day, right? The anime shows the backstages of this kind of job, and mix it with a bit of romance. More than friends, not yet lovers, that's the status of our two heroes.



The main female character lead, Aka, is simply adorable, and her little Mahoro look completely stole my heart You should note that this anime is produced by SHAFT, which, with Gainax, also made the Mahoromatic anime and This Ugly and beautiful world (Kono minikuku mo utsukushii sekai)




The series in itself isn't ecchi (weird huh, considering the pic just above, hmm? ) There, you can have it in a bigger format.

Actually, this series is quite refreshing, and easy to view since each episode is about 12 minutes long.
Sadly, there'll only be 9 of them (which makes it a fast series) and the manga seems to go much further (4 volumes have been published so far in Japan, and some pages of it are rather... hot.)

It looks somewhat interesting; I'm downloading the first episode.


Though right now I'm simultaneously watching Elfen Lied, and that's going to be pretty hard to top.

I just finished watching episode 3 and this anime is like other anime I've seen. And I'm guessing its gunna have a similar ending too.

You're wrong Contrary to other "romance" anime, like Love Hina for example, they don't take 26 episodes beating around the bush and toying with the people's feelings

You make a good point, but still the beginning was similar to other anime. What I meen is that in some anime in this genre, the guy and the girl end up living together because of some misfortune or crazy event.

I've had the chance to see the series through EP5, and you are right... it is a refreshing story.  I worked in radio for a few years (doing voicing for commercials and radio plays), so there is a great deal that is familiar to me.  The storyline is very believable.

My only complaints... Nine 15 minute long episodes is far to short... and why does the lead male have to have such a loser portrail at the beginnging of the series.  (Maybe that's why I liked Mahoromatic and Ai Yori Aoshi so much)

I'm not saying that I don't like it.  I'm finding it quite enjoyable.  But when it is done, I think that I will feel that it should have been a longer series.

My complaint about the male lead seems to hold true for many Anime series.

Well, he looks like a loser at the beginning, but the series progressively shows that he is actually a rather normal guy, a bit like Suguru: he has desires just like any male would, but he also cares much for Aka, IMHO

I've had the chance to watch all of the episodes now and the only thing I can say is... too bad it wasn't a longer series.  Although it is open enough that they might come up with a what happens after series.  I'd have a few ideas.
