Love Hina is actually, in my opinion, using ecchi less to its advantage. Look at Love Hina Again or omse parts of the manga, where ecchi is completely useless and just here for the eyes of a fan. In Mahoromatic, it's more of a tool for comic relief

GAINAX has never fallen into straight hentai, but always flirted with ecchiness. I find their idea quite good. It stays tasteful and nice to watch without being gross and all.

Well, I don't know. There's Ebichu. I don't really think it can qualify as "tasteful" no matter how you look at it, though its sexual content is obviously for comedic effect rather than as fanservice.

as a supplement to my last post:
I agree LH doesnt really use it to its advantage, but when is said it was better at that particualr point, i meant the covering, the tiniest peice of cloth, an arm or mist. suggesting the same, but not showing things belonging in hentai. Its the fact they couldve had the same result without this 'level' of ecchi.


by they way, if you look at the post-dates, it looks like ive spent quite some time thinking about it, but i just forgot this forum a little by playing WoW, DOOM 3 and Far Cry
